We played a crucial role in developing a corporate portal and knowledge base for one of our long-term clients. Our collaboration aimed at automating employee training and streamlining HR processes for a large technology company with over 300 employees.
Our partner tasked us with creating a corporate educational portal designed to digitalize training and professional development processes. The key objectives included:
- Creating a catalog of training materials: Including courses, books, articles, and videos.
- Automating paid training: Facilitating access to external courses.
- Introducing gamification elements: Enhancing engagement among specialists.
The existing corporate training processes often relied on managers selecting courses and conferences for employees. The client envisioned a more empowering approach, encouraging employees to take charge of their own development. We needed to create a user-friendly knowledge base and train employees on how to utilize it effectively.
The educational portal has significantly empowered specialists in crafting their individual training and development plans. As a direct outcome, the number of employees enhancing their skills increased by an astonishing 300% on average. Our partner has greatly appreciated the effectiveness of the project and the collaborative effort from our team, acknowledging the positive impact on their training processes.
Our dedicated development team consisted of 6 specialists: an analyst, a designer, three backend and frontend developers, and a QA expert. Although the client had an initial design in mind, they sought to enhance usability and make the portal more intuitive.
Before diving into the design, we conducted a two-day user research session (CusDev) at the client's office with managers and specialists. This collaborative effort allowed us to identify how the educational portal could best address both user needs.

Based on our findings, we developed an improved prototype of the portal featuring:
- A Unified Database: Over 2000 training materials, aiding specialists in selecting relevant courses, reading materials, and videos, while allowing them to track their personal training plans.
- Streamlined Approval Process: Managers can easily review and approve training requests submitted through the portal, ensuring an efficient training management system.
- Gamification: We incorporated reward mechanisms for user achievements, such as earning bonus points for completing certain tasks, which can be redeemed for branded merchandise in the company store.
